sandra, a sense of place

This first exercise set the stage for a beautiful week of communal art making. Incorporating movement in the process was an excellent way to see the world in a different way, thus opening us up to work intuitively and non objectively.

The third sense, sound. This is perfect for the classroom. Do we not listen to Mozart to stimulate the brain or tonal pulses to help induce relaxation and sleep? The use of the brass bowl incorporates rhythmic movement which is excellent for getting centered to do work... I am reminded of the Waldorf use of Eurythmy which is speech and music made visible. It's artistic expression of tone.

Each day and each lesson was a profound experience. The cooperative way in which we worked and the communal aspect of our art making is without parallel in my life as an artist.
This model for learning should be studied and adopted by the educational world and certainly can be adapted to the classroom. The five senses is perfect for early childhood and beyond.
